Linda Musthaler
is a Principal Analyst with Essential Solutions Corp.  She directs many of the firmís analysis and writing projects.  Linda is especially adept at assessing technologies aimed at the SMB and enterprise markets.  The readers of her business technology articles enjoy her insight on what products and solutions bring real value to the workplace and the technology adoption issues involved.  The developers of the products appreciate her ideas on how best to position and market the products to the desired customer base.

Prior to founding Essential Solutions with her husband Brian, Linda was vice president of Currid & Company for more than 14 years.  She led the companyís business development efforts and was a key contributor to countless technology assessments and research projects over the years.  Linda also developed and led Currid & Companyís events marketing business and was a contributing author to several of the firmís business technology books.  

Over the years, Linda has held a variety of positions in IT or related areas.  She began her career as a programmer and system administrator, and then moved into end user training and support.  She spent more than ten years as an advocate for end user computing as she helped her employers transition from elitist mainframe-based computing to LANs and user-centric computing.  During that time, she supported many aspects of the application life cycle for line of business areas. This life cycle included collecting and analyzing user requirements, selecting the appropriate technology to meet those needs, assisting with implementation and application development, managing the computing environments, and training and supporting the end users.

Linda has been a regular columnist for Network World magazine for more than twelve years.  She expresses her opinions on varied topics that affect network managers.  She also writes the weekly electronic newsletter Network World Technology Executive, which is read by more than 35,000 subscribers worldwide.  Over the years, Linda has written for numerous business and IT industry journals, including Inc., Accessible Content, Certification Magazine, LAN Times, Data Based Advisor, Computerworld, Windows Magazine, PC Novice, Information Center and numerous private label publications such as customer newsletters and magazines. Through Network World she has published buyers guides which analyze the markets for various technologies and assist buyers in identifying the issues and trends that affect their purchase decisions.  Linda has also developed newsletters, custom white papers, video scripts, and case study documents for her industry clients.  And, she helps other IT industry luminaries find their voice through executive blogs.

2006 marks Lindaís Silver Anniversary in the IT business.  During those 25 years, she has worked many different aspects of the computing industry. Having started as a computer programmer, she also has held positions in end user support, systems administration, network implementation, software sales, product evaluations, business requirements analysis, and product and event marketing.   She has a passion for simplifying the computing process for the business professional.

Linda volunteers her time to support people with disabilities through AIR (Accessibility Internet Rally)-Houston.  She has been on the Board of Advisors since AIR-Houstonís inception in 2004.  She also is active in Girls Scouts, serving as a troop leader, service unit leader, and key volunteer for Girl Scouts of San Jacinto Council, where she is a member of the IT Advisory Committee.
